Piazza Navona is one of the most famous and beautiful squares in the capital of Italy. It was built by order of Pope Innocent X.
This place is the honour of the Roman Baroque, with its sculptures and architectural buildings, that are still the same today, recalling those days of magnificent art. Experts artists, such us GianLorenzo Bernini with the fountain of 4 rivers built at the centre of the place, have made this Place marvellous. This fountain represents the rivers located at the corners of the Earth: The Danube, the Ganges, the Nile and the Rio de la Plata. The Church Sant’Agnese in Agone, designed by Francesco Borromini and Girolamo Rainaldi, is in front of this fountain. And look at the frescoes in the Palazzo Pamphilj gallery by Pietro da Cortona.
In addition, there are also two other fountains in Piazza Navona: Fontana del Nettuno, built by Antonio della Bitta and Gregorio Zappalà and Fontana del Moro located sculpted by Giacomo della Porta and retouched by Bernini.
